“There are endless ways to enhance beauty. You never know when you will find your perfect lipstick—unless you keep experimenting.” – Pat McGrath
Who doesn’t love a bit of red lippy? It can easily transform your whole look from girl next door to glamour, sophistication or simply timeless fashion. What is more, it gives you a look of confidence. Red lipstick is like wearing sexy lingery, making you feel more sexy.
I have met too many women who dare not to wear it. It is a daring color hence the fear of it. However here’s how to help you change this outlook on red lipstick.
Everyone becomes accustomed to what they see in the mirror, therefore changing your look takes time. You might have tried it once when growing up and thought to yourself ‘this is too much’. Try it every now and then and you can slowly adapt yourself to it. If makeup is done properly you will look stunning and not remotely like a ‘clown’.
Like clothes and hair color we only look best in certain color ranges. Some color ranges bring out the best of our coloring and some do not. Red lipstick can go from blue/purple shade to a pinky or a orangy shade (as we have seen in this year’s spring fashion week with the orange red lipstick). To discover your color, go to a professional or to a Superdrug/Boots store and try on different shades of red lipstick.
How to choose your shade
Pick out at least 4 different shades of red lipstick and place one at a time on your hand and lip.
Tip: Use a full mirror to see how it matches your skin colouring and hair. Also wear black or white – other colors can confuse your choice.
Once you have checked out the red spectrum of lipsticks, you can better judge which works with your colouring. Try different brands. What is more, you can make your own shade by mixing two or more together.
Hair color vs Red lipstick
With fair skin and hair leaning towards brown – Purple and pink shades worked best.
Light shade of hair colour – Orange reds. The tanner the skin, the more orange shade of red.
The right colors or rather shades of colors are instrumental to your look.
Your look should be the best possible version of yourself.
